Technical Help
There are a number of things that need a little clarification:
Content Management Systems (CMS), this is when the website is written in such a way that the customer/ website administrator can make simple updates to the website without the need for a web developer (read more wikipedia.org).
Dynamic Web Pages/Sites, a dynamic site is one that is built when the button is pressed and not pre-built. this enable CMS to update pages and show the latest modifications when the page is drawn (read more wikipedia.org).
Legal Requirements, as you are entering the web you will have to conform to a number of legal obligations. In order to find out what these are you will need to seek legal advice. A simple site that offers much of this advice for free is Website Law. We have their default privicy policy and terms and conditions attached to this site (with comments for information).
Mobiles, when a site is designed it seldom takes mobiles into account. Mobile devices often have a much smaller screen, slower link speed and limited browser functionality, for this reason your website must take mobile devices into account if you would like them to browse your site. Our wordpress sites have a plugin that enables the site to be viewed in a mobile friendly layout. Look at our site via your mobile and you will see the results.
RSS, Really Simple Syndication (look for the symbol
) allows you to monitor a website for updates (ours is here). When your wordpress news is updated any subsribers will be sent the information instantly (read more wikipedia.org).
Sitemap, Sitemaps give the browser a definitive list of pages on your site (ours is here). this enables an individual to locate a page without having to navigate via a series of pages in order to get to it. XML sitemaps are also use in a similar way by web spiders, the workhorse of the search engine. the search engines will work better for you if you submit a sitemap to them directly.
