A local website and e-mail user dalestest.co.uk have recently moved their hosting away from freeparking to our hosting.
The move has gone without a hitch or so we thought.
When Ian@dalestest came to send e-mail via Windows outlook it failed to send.
After some investigation it turns out that if your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is Tesco then you have to use mail.tesco.net as your outgoing SMTP server if you want this to work. Things appear to have changed as this was not the case a week or so ago.
Have Tesco changed something?
If you have a similar issue then change your outgoing mail server (SMTP) from mail.yourname.co.uk to mail.tesco.net and all should start to work again…. for now.
BT have a similar policy on using their SMTP mail server but they require you to authenticate onto the BT mail server and also register the outgoing e-mail address for it to work. This can be confusing but works once setup.
